BERK is 35!

We are so grateful for the opportunity to work on policy and planning projects across Washington state. Thank you to our past and present employees, partners, and clients for their collaboration and commitment to helping communities and organizations create their best futures.  

To celebrate more than three and a half decades working throughout Washington state, we're donating to four local foodbanks. If you feel so inclined, please follow our lead and donate dollars or supplies to your local foodbank.

This spring, our team will spend a day in service with a local organization focusing on food security for our communities.

How it started...

In 1988, Bonnie Berk founded the firm from her kitchen table. Her interest was in creating innovative public-private partnerships to enable large-scale infrastructure projects that wouldn't be possible otherwise. Building a multi-disciplinary team of curious, entrepreneurial analysts and facilitators to help communities tackle complex challenges, the company that started with one client quickly expanded to work with a rich mix of clients in transportation and municipal finance.

 Fast forward 35 years, and BERK is now home to a team of 30 planners, analysts, and facilitators. We have three Principal Owners - Allegra Calder , Brian Murphy, and Lisa Grueter - who are experts in their fields and fearless leaders of the firm. We are still holding fast to our Mission of Helping Communities and Organizations Create Their Best Futures, and look forward to many more years of doing impactful work in the public interest.
