Lakewood receives "Smart Community" award for Station District Subarea Plan

The Governor recognized the City of Lakewood’s Station District Subarea Plan, Code, and Planned Action with a “Smart Community” Judges Merit award.

Over 2019-2021, the BERK team collaborated with the City to develop a Subarea Plan which addresses housing affordability, reduces displacement, and supports the ethnically and economically diverse community in the area. Though the bulk of the project was completed during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to lead effective community engagement activities and used that input to develop a Plan which was reflective of and responsive to community needs.
