Redmond wins Mayor's Conference Climate Protection Award

BERK and the City of Redmond recently completed a Climate Vulnerability Risk Assessment as part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan Update for 2024. The project received an Honorable Mention - Small Cities Category at the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ 90th Meeting.

Partnered with the University of Washington Climate Impacts Group and an interdisciplinary team, BERK conducted a community-wide climate vulnerability assessment to identify and implement resilience-building actions. The effort included developing a 30-indicator index map tool to determine vulnerability and a subsequent report on findings. The results of the study are intended to fulfill a key strategy of Redmond’s Environmental Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP) and a Climate Emergency Declaration.
